If these unseasonably mild temperatures continue, Ferris State University could be getting some softball games going sooner rather than later in the state of Michigan.

The Bulldogs finished its spring Florida trip with a record of 6-8 as it faced some strong national competition at the Rebel Spring Games in the Orlando area of central Florida. Ferris lost three of its first four games before it picked things up a bit during the balance of the trip. After that tough stretch to start, Ferris went on to win three of its next four and ultimately finished its trip with the 6-8 record under first-year head coach Dawn Thompson, who is being assisted by a pair of former Bulldog softball players in Holly Bruntjens and Lynsay Weaver.

Back in Big Rapids, for the second half of the spring semester, Ferris is scheduled to host Aquinas College in a doubleheader on March 19. Games that early, due to weather conditions, are not always likely. With this unseasonably mild season, however, anything is possible. From there, Ferris is scheduled to begin Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a road trip to down to Ohio for back-to-back doubleheaders with the University of Findlay and Tiffin University before returning to Michigan to face Wayne State University in a pair in Detroit.
